COMMEMORATING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF ARLINGTON, THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE AND THE PORT OF EVERETT

Post Date:01/07/2020 12:15 PM

We’re kicking-off the New Year with a celebration of new partnership between the Port of Everett and our neighboring cities to the north – the Cities of Arlington and Marysville! Please join us for a joint special meeting at Elemental Hard Cider this Wednesday, January 8 as officials sign Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to give the Cascade Industrial Center (CIC) more economic development tools and know-how to create jobs and expand the region’s tax base.

The celebration starts at 4 p.m. with a tour of Elemental Hard Cider, one of the new food processing facilities located within the CIC, followed by the presentation/signing of the MOUs and comments by elected officials and leadership of the Port of Everett, City of Arlington, City of Marysville and partner agencies Snohomish County, Washington State University Everett, Workforce Snohomish County and Snohomish County PUD. The City of Arlington and Arlington Public Schools also have exciting news to share on a new career internship program within the CIC. See details below.

Signing of Joint Memoranda of Understanding

Come celebrate with the cities of Arlington and Marysville and the Port of Everett at Elemental Hard Cider on January 8 as their leaders sign Memoranda of Understanding to give the Cascade Industrial Center (CIC) more economic development tools and know-how to create jobs and expand the region’s tax base.

Strategically located midway between Seattle and the Canadian border along the Interstate 5 corridor, the CIC offers over 1,700 buildable acres of manufacturing and industrial potential. The Cascade Industrial Center features large amounts of developable property and its proximity to transportation assets like I-5, state highways, Arlington Municipal Airport, BNSF rail spurs, and Port of Everett make it an attractive site for industrial activities.

Through the agreements, the Port is positioned to bring its expertise to the table in areas such as financing, grants, planning and environmental support, and regulatory strategy. The agreements will also give the cities and Port room to evaluate agreements or leases within the CIC for job development.

Hear about the Arlington Career Internships Program

The City of Arlington and Arlington Public Schools will also be kicking off the new Arlington Career Internships Program for local juniors and seniors.

With the job market experiencing a scarcity of qualified employees, it only makes sense to invest in quality high school career programs. Host an intern now and you’ll have a competitive advantage in recruiting the best workers—you’ll already be known to the employees you want most. Your new workers will already be familiar with your workplace and loyal to your company, all of which can lower training time, recruiting costs and turnover rates. You’ll build a reputation that will pay off with students and the community. And your company will benefit from the input of talented, enthusiastic, innovative people right in your back yard.

Can't make it January 8, but want to participate? Let us know!
