Port of Everett Commission Launches New Economic Development Grant to Support Commercial Tenant Recovery, Authorizes $50,000 in Funding Opportunity

 EDGE

Everett, Wash. – Today, the legislative body of the Port of Everett adopted the Economic Development Grant for Evolution (EDGE) – a new Port Commission adopted initiative aimed at giving commercial tenants and subtenants an opportunity to get an ‘edge’ on their COVID-19 recovery. The Commission has allocated $50,000 to the new program, with individual grant awards to be issued up to $5,000.

The intent of EDGE is to provide economic development resources to Port businesses eligible to reopen in Phase II of Governor Inslee’s ‘Safe Start’ Phased Reopening Plan by supporting implementation of new public health guidance and associated measures to safely resume operations, such as installing plexiglass, procuring equipment to support social distancing, purchasing personal protective equipment and more.

EDGE applications are being accepted now through Tuesday, June 30 by 5 p.m., with funding to be allocated as early as July 10. Applications must be submitted electronically at www.portofeverett.com/EDGE.

Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements including being a commercial tenant or subtenant located on Port of Everett property, and whose business has been closed to the public and/or operating under modified operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated Stay Home, Stay Healthy order for Washington State. The business must also be identified as eligible to reopen in Phase II of the State’s phased reopening plan, of which Snohomish County was granted effective June 5. Expenditures can be retroactive back to April 1, 2020.
