Port of Everett Sponsors Promotion of Tourism for Local Festivals
Everett, Wash. - The Port of Everett announced that it would contribute $2,500 each to both the Everett Fourth of July Community Celebration and the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival to promote and enhance tourism for the events.
This is the Port's third year in a row sponsoring these family-friendly events. The Fourth of July Community Celebration is an all-day event that features a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser, Yankee Doodle Dash, Ice Skating, the Freedom Fest at Naval Station Everett, a parade, street fair, AquaSox game and a fireworks display.
"The Everett community has really taken ownership of the Fourth of July Festival, and I am pleased that we are able to contribute to its success," Port Commissioner Don Hopkins said.
The 41st Annual Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival is a weekend event that runs from Sept. 8-10, and includes a parade, artists' booths, juried art show, free entertainment, food, children's activities, a fireworks show and Lighthouse tours. The traditional Run-A-Muk 5K/10K race, which starts at 3rd and Lincoln in Mukilteo at 8 a.m., is being held on Aug. 26.
"Every year the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival grows in the numbers of volunteers and those in attendance, and the Port of Everett is proud to be able to help bring recognition to this festival throughout the county," Port Commissioner Connie Niva said.
