Port of Everett Rewarded for Ninth Consecutive Clean Audit
Everett, Wash. - The Port of Everett once again upholds its high financial standards by receiving its ninth consecutive exemplary audit.
The Washington State Auditor's Office reviewed the Port's financial statements from the period of Jan. 1, 2005 to Dec. 31, 2005, and concluded that there were "no findings" in the audit.
"I am absolutely thrilled that the Port of Everett has again posted an audit with no exceptions," said John Mohr, executive director of the Port. "We at the Port are all very proud of this accomplishment, and especially proud of our finance and accounting personnel in administration and the marina."
The audit was conducted by evaluating the Port's accountability for public resources, financial statements, and compliance with state laws and regulations and entity policies.
"Having nine straight audit reports without any findings shows the Port's commitment to good financial stewardship," said Mindy Chambers, communications program manager for the Washington State Auditor's Office.
Two years ago, the Port received a personal letter from Washington State Auditor Brian Sonntag congratulating the Port of Everett of its "...exemplary record of no audit findings in the last seven audits." He went on to say, "this accomplishment reflects the dedication of the Board and the staff's strong oversight of operations, good internal controls and accurate financial reporting."
The audit consisted of examining the Port's financial statements, accountability for public resources, internal controls, compliance with federal programs and other financial activities at the Port.
