Port Schedules June 2 night meeting to take Public Testimony on North Marina

Post Date:05/27/2005

To ensure the public has the opportunity to comment on the preferred development alternative for the North Marina, the Port has scheduled a special night meeting for June 2 to share the staff recommendation and take public testimony.

The meeting will be held at the Marine View Conference Center, located at 404 14th Street, Everett, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Port will present the staff's draft recommendation for the preferred development alternative, and then take public testimony. The comments received at the June 2 meeting will be presented to the Port Commission at the start of the June 7 meeting on the development alternatives.

"It's important for the Port to provide the public with enough opportunities to weigh in on a project of this magnitude," said John Mohr, executive director of the Port of Everett. "We believe this additional meeting is necessary to ensure the Port is receptive to the public's input."

The official Port Commission public hearing on this issue will be held June 7 at 9 a.m. at the Marine View Conference Center. Because of the overwhelming public interest in this project, the Port felt a larger venue was needed to accommodate the crowd.

Public testimony on the preferred alternative will be taken through June 9, but no public input will be taken during the Commission's decision meeting, which is scheduled for June 14.
