In early April 2012, the Port of Everett opened its expanded, state-of-the-art boatyard facility in its Craftsman District.
The Craftsmen District, located between 10th and 13th Street and West Marine View Drive in Everett, supports the Port’s 2,300-slip marina by offering services and amenities that best serve the boating community. The expansion occurred along 13th Street and West Marine View Drive.
Some of the project features include: • The expansion included 1.9 acres of environmentally-compliant boatyard space at the cost of $1.8 million. The project came in on-time and on-budget. • The project added 32 boat repair stalls, increasing the Port’s current capacity by 44 percent to 72 full service stalls. • Each stall has full electrical and water supply • The contractor for the project was Strider Construction and PND was the design engineer • Fencing, lighting, and landscaping were added to the project to enhance the overall attractiveness and security of the facility. • The facility can accommodate a 75-ton max capacity vessel by way of the Port’s 12th Street Haul-out and state-of-the-art, environmentally designed boat wash facility.
In 2008, the Port constructed the initial phase of the Craftsman District at a cost of nearly $10 million. The project included the construction of 40 environmentally-compliant boatyard spaces, a new operations and boat wash facility, new roads, utilities, district parking and a walkway along the east edge of the new marina. Through the construction of the 12th Street Marina in 2007, the Port built a new haul-out facility to include a 75-ton Travelift.
In 2010, the Port completed the construction of Waterfront Center, a 60,000 mixed use building, which is designed to support the Craftsman District. Waterfront Center is home to many boat repair businesses, along with a marine college academy, Scuttlebutt restaurant and a café and two soon to open businesses; a new boat outfitter and sales business and a premium spirits micro-distillery and package store.
