Within the 65-acre project, the Port will construct a public plaza seating up to 1,000 people for activities such as small concerts, weddings and picnics. The primary purpose of the plaza will be to serve as a waterfront attraction, recreation point and destination for residents wanting to reconnect with their waterfront. Construction of the plaza will be partially funded by a local parks grant through the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program, which is administered by the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC). The plaza will be connected by the Port Gardner Wharf Esplanade, providing routes of public access from all corners of the Port’s waterfront.
