Jetty Landing Boat Launch Maintenance Dredging
Enhancing Public Access
Project Location Map
Please be aware that there are significant sedimentation issues at the boat launch, especially during lower tidal elevations.
The project includes planning, permitting, design and construction of Maintenance Dredging for the Jetty Landing Boat Launch basin to -10 feet elevation (MLLW) + 2 feet of over-dredge to allow for continued use of the public boat launch.
The Port recognizes the importance of maintaining this valued community asset. However, as sediment accumulation at the launch has increased over the years, the cost of performing the maintenance has also increased. The ever increasing complexity of the regulatory agency review process adds to the costs of maintaining the launch.
Maintaining viable depths at the boat launch. The Port is actively working with our partners to identify secure funding sources to keep this asset fully functional.
Engineering design is complete and permits to dredge have been obtained. Additional sediment sampling and analysis will occur in 2019/2020 in order to meet regulatory requirements prior to dredging. Further, the Port is pursuing a partnership with DNR for permitting and dredging of the property to access the Federal Navigation Channel. Construction implementation is dependent on the outcome of negotiations with the City of Everett and Snohomish County on financial participation in construction costs. The Port is actively reaching out to additional potential partners in an effort to defray costs. Dredging is anticipated for late 2020 pending funding availability.
