Port of Everett to Kick-off Final Phase of Upland Infrastructure at Fisherman's Harbor

Everett, Wash. – Last month, the Port Commission authorized a nearly $3.7 million contract with Granite Construction to build the new SE Millwright Loop and open spaces – the final phase of upland public infrastructure within the Fisherman’s Harbor district of Waterfront Place.
The project creates additional roadway access from Fisherman’s Harbor to the Port’s Central Docks, and eventually, to future phases of the Waterfront Place project. Plans also include utility work, creation of a new marina parking lot, connection of the new Fisherman's Harbor esplanade to the existing esplanade along the north side of the Central Docks and construction of a new public space between the coming Hotel Indigo and the Port’s new Pacific Rim Plaza and splash fountain.
Work is expected to begin late-July and conclude with the opening of Fisherman’s Harbor in mid-2019.
“This is an exciting time for our community,” Port Commissioner Bruce Fingarson said. “By this time next year, the highly anticipated Fisherman’s Harbor will officially open for all to enjoy, providing access to the waterfront’s newest central gathering space at Pacific Rim Plaza, new lodging and dining at Hotel Indigo, and shortly thereafter, new housing and restaurant opportunities.”
After two years of construction, in March 2018, the Port wrapped up its initial $12 million infrastructure investment at Fisherman's Harbor – the first phase of the Port's 65-acre mixed-use Waterfront Place development. Work included roadways, utilities and marine elements, including a new bulkhead and the new Seiner Wharf, and public access amenities, including the new Pacific Rim Plaza and splash fountain.
Completing this work paved the way for private development to being in March 2018 with the groundbreaking of the site's 142-room Hotel Indigo. Other private projects in the pipeline include 266 waterfront apartment units by SeaLevel Properties and future restaurants, both anticipated to begin construction in the late-2018/early-2019 timeframe.
Later this month, the Port will also bid its multi-million in-water Central Marina Improvements Project - Phase 3, dovetailing with upland public and private development. This work includes marina dredging and construction of a new Central guest dock/public walking dock that connects with Fisherman’s Harbor and moorage dock upgrades adjacent to the development.

About the Waterfront Place Project
The Waterfront Place Central project creates a new waterfront neighborhood where people can live, work, shop, relax and find entertainment. Overall, it includes new public gathering spaces, up to 660 housing units, a waterfront hotel, up to 10 fine and casual dining restaurants, and 662,000 sq. ft. of commercial, office, retail, and marine sales and services uses. At full build out, the project will generate approximately $500 million in private investment and support more than 2,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs and generate $8.6 million in new annual tax revenue for the city.
