Port of Everett Commission Appoints Retired Boeing Supply Chain Manager Bruce Fingarson to District 1 Seat

636452155755200000Everett, Wash. –On November 1, 2017, the Port of Everett Commission appointed retired supply chain manager Bruce Fingarson to fill the vacant District 1 seat.
“We were fortunate to have a great group of outstanding candidates,” Port Commissioner Glen Bachman said. “We look forward to having Commissioner Fingarson join the Port team.”

Fingarson graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Business Administration, and spent 36-years working in Everett in supplier management for The Boeing Company. His grandparents settled in Everett in the 1920s, and he raised his family at the foot of Rucker Hill overlooking the Port of Everett.

Fingarson said he applied for the appointment because he has always had a fondness for the Port of Everett, particular on the international trade side of the business. While he was at Boeing, he was part of the team that worked to get a direct port of call for the 777 airplane program from Japan. With his various roles at Boeing, he believes he could be an asset in growing and stabilizing the Port’s Seaport operations. He said he isn’t an advocate for any major policy or strategic changes, he believes the Port is headed in the right direction, and is an active listener to its constituents, and a responsible steward of the environment and managing Port assets.

Fingarson will be sworn in on November 7 at the next regularly scheduled Port Commission meeting. The appointment lasts until the next regular Port election (2019) at which time anyone seeking to run for the position will have to stand for election for the balance of the unexpired term. Thereafter, anyone seeking to run for the position will stand for election in 2021 for the next 6-year term. The office became vacant on August 29, after Troy McClelland resigned after relocating for a job assignment in Massachusetts.
