The Port of Everett Commission has authorized two new 15-year leases with local restaurateur The Way Group Hospitality LLC to open two new restaurants at Waterfront Place – Tapped Public House and The Net Sheds, a new fish and chips restaurant with a year-round fish market.

Both businesses will locate along “Restaurant Row” in Fisherman’s Harbor in two new multi-tenant buildings set to break ground early next year.

Tapped Public House joins Rustic Cork Wine Bar, Hamilton Cellars and Menchie’s @ the Marina in a new two-story, nearly 12,000 sq. ft. building to be constructed on parcel A12, south of the new Asian-fusion Fisherman Jack’s restaurant and South Fork Baking Co. that opened this past summer.

The Net Sheds joins Lazy Boy Brewing in a new 6,000 sq. ft. building overlooking Seiner Wharf and the commercial fishing dock at parcel A6 in Fisherman’s Harbor, situated at the corner of Seiner and West Marine View drives near the Grand Avenue Park Bridge.

The two agreements secure approximately 9,500 sq. ft. interior space between both parcels, plus expansive outdoor deck and patio.

“We are pleased to welcome The Way Group Hospitality to the Waterfront Place community, and to have another partner that not only delivers quality food and exceptional experiences, but also cares about honoring the history of the site as much as we do,” Port of Everett CEO Lisa Lefeber said. “We appreciate them agreeing to the historic Net Shed name for the new fish bar and market as a nod to one of the key industries that shaped the Everett waterfront and that still continues here today.”

This announcement marks the fourth Tapped Public House location for Sean Drought, Brian Radford and Ivo Schilbach of The Way Group Hospitality, who also have locations in Camano Island, Mill Creek and Mukilteo. They look forward to expanding their family of restaurants and offerings to the Port of Everett’s Waterfront Place.

“We are thrilled the Port of Everett has invited The Way Group Hospitality to be part of the revitalization project at the waterfront,” Drought said. “The city of Everett and the Port’s waterfront are so rich with history and culture. There is a deep sense of pride and such a positive vibe and energy here with amazing people and families, including many of our friends, families and team members. We simply cannot wait to be part of the community and the energy of the waterfront.”

Tapped offers a family friendly space for the community to gather, connect and engage while enjoying Pacific Northwest-inspired craft food and beverages. The restaurant and bar will be on the second floor with interior and exterior dining spaces, including the first open-air rooftop deck dining experience at the waterfront with marine and mountain views.

A walk-up retail store and take-out window will be located on the first level, with convenient access from the Marina esplanade, and outdoor patio space.

The Way Group Hospitality’s Net Sheds will offer a unique restaurant/retail concept with a fish-and-chips restaurant and bar, paired with a year-round fish market. The Net Shed name is intended to honor the history of the commercial fishing industry here. For decades, a row of sheds near this site stored nets and offered a social hub for the fishermen when commercial fishing was at its peak.

“Our newest concept is inspired by the Port and heritage of the site, with a local and seasonally driven curated selection of world class seafood,” Drought said. “The market and fish bar’s offerings will change daily, just like the tides. Our goal is to be able to put a quality taste and flavor on the plate that is locally grown, harvested and caught products of our culinarily abundant region of the Puget Sound.”

The Net Sheds’ space includes a 2,700-square-foot interior unit with additional outdoor patio space along Seiner Wharf overlooking the commercial fishing dock.

Both leases have an initial 15-year term with two, five-year options to extend. With the agreements in place and the buildings now full, the Port is finalizing building design with BCRA Architects with plans to break ground in early 2024.

The Port’s private development partner The Schuster Group will be constructing the buildings and surrounding infrastructure. They have selected Graham Construction as their contractor for the work.

“The addition of Tapped Public House and The Net Sheds Fish Market to this already incredible line-up of local tenants is such a win for the residents, businesses and visitors of Everett,” said Holly Gardner, President of The Schuster Group. “The Everett Waterfront is a truly special place, and we can’t wait to add to that and get started on these next two buildings.”

Site development also includes construction of an approximately 80-stall parking lot that adds to Waterfront Place shared-use parking. Additional parking capacity will continue to be added in future development phases, including in the Millwright District now under construction.
